The 4th Line Podcast is a weekly hockey podcast hosted by Carl Landra and Joel Schnell. Every week they share their unique and fun take on what is happening in the world of hockey. While they don’t take themselves too seriously, they have a typical no 4th line attitude: what they lack in finesse, they make for in being willing to go to the corners and work hard to get the job done.
Who are Carl and Joel? Carl comes from Calgary, AB. His facial hair of choice is a mustache. His team of choice is the Colorado Avalanche and his smoked meat of choice is brisket. Joel comes from Nanaimo, BC. His facial hair of choice is a beard. His team of choice is the Toronto Maple Leafs and his smoked meat of choice is ribs.
The guys are back with a brand new episode as they look at the week that was leading up to the NHL draft, including:
- The Vegas Golden Knights expansion draft
- Expansion draft trades with the Pittsburgh Penguins for Marc Andre Fleury, New York Islanders for Mikhail Grabovski, and Columbus Blue Jackets for David Clarkson
- Ryan Reaves actually got traded for a 1st round draft pick
They also look at draft day trades, such as:
- Jordan Eberle from the Edmonton Oilers to the New York Islanders for Ryan Strome
- Niklas Hjalmarsson to the Arizona Coyotes from the Chicago Blackhawks
- Brandon Saad heading back to Chicago for Artemi Panarin
- Derek Stepan going to Arizona in exchange for the #7 overall draft pick
- Brayden Schenn being dealt from the Philadelphia Flyers to the St. Louis Blues
Lastly, they look at some of the selections made in the 2017 NHL draft itself.
