The 4th Line Podcast is a weekly hockey podcast hosted by Carl Landra and Joel Schnell. Every week they share their unique and fun take on what is happening in the world of hockey. While they don’t take themselves too seriously, they have a typical no 4th line attitude: what they lack in finesse, they make for in being willing to go to the corners and work hard to get the job done.
Who are Carl and Joel? Carl comes from Calgary, AB. His facial hair of choice is a mustache. His team of choice is the Colorado Avalanche and his smoked meat of choice is brisket. Joel comes from Nanaimo, BC. His facial hair of choice is a beard. His team of choice is the Toronto Maple Leafs and his smoked meat of choice is ribs.
The Always Wonderful Joel is away but Nick Seguin from Wings Nation (wingsnation.com) fills in! They talk Detroit Red Wings offseason, including:
– How did they do in the draft? Was Michael Rasmussen a good selection for them?
They also talk about the news of the week:
– Jaromir Jagr is still a free agent. Where will he end up?
– Jaccob Slavin signed a 7 year extension with the Carolina Hurricanes. Are the Canes poised for a playoff run?
– The Hurricanes also had an offer to purchase the team this week. Does this impact the health of the franchise in Carolina?
It is also the 4th Line Podcast debut for a new segment called “Letter of Intent”, where we explore the world of college hockey with Gwen de Young and Kyle Willaert, this week looking at the best college players taken in this year’s NHL entry draft.
With this being Nick’s second appearance on the show, it was time for a little get to know you with Mr. Seguin, as we find out his most recent new thing, his least favorite good Red Wing and more!
