Episode 103 – The Hot Oil

The guys are back as Carl shares his excitement about Mikko Rantanen joining the Colorado Avalanche, and Joel has anger about the Toronto Maple Leafs blowing leads. Is Carl too excited about the Edmonton Oilers’ start to the season?

Carl and Joel also debut a new segment called “Trust or Bust” where they decide if hot or cold starts are for real, including:

  • Jimmy Howard leading goals against average with the Detroit Red Wings
  • The Minnesota Wild with Bruce Boudreau
  • The Boston Bruins having two scorers in the top 10
  • The Nashville Predator’s slow start
  • Ben Bishop‘s poor numbers
  • The Carolina Hurricanes basement dwelling

The guys also touch on the Chicago Blackhawk’s terrible penalty kill and the Vancouver Canucks’ lucky start, ending by bringing the last set of Pavel Bures for the mini stick prize pack giveaway for October’s Hi Sticking.
