A 3-0 loss to Vegas in Game 7 wasn’t the ending the Canucks deserved. However, when you consider they battled from 3-1 down to force this game, the story reads differently. Vancouver showed a tremendous amount of spirit and skill. Travis Green and his young side have proven that there is life in this franchise with a clutch of new talent. The Stanley Cup won’t be returning to Canada for yet another year, but you have to concede this could be the start of something exciting. During their 8-2 home win over LA, the Vancouver Canucks announced Bo Horvat as the Captain. Henrik Sedin and Orland Kurtenbach were present during a special pre-game ceremony to hand the reigns over. Few Canucks fans could argue that this was a smart choice. Since the retirement of Henrik and Daniel Sedin, fans have been waiting for a replacement leader. We tend to forget that Vancouver went all out to get this talent at the 2013 draft, the faith has been rewarded. On Thursday night there wasn’t a dry eye to be seen at Rogers Arena. Henrik and Daniel Sedin are officially retiring from the game. Although Arizona gave the Canucks a hard time- Daniel’s overtime winner sent Vancouver fans into ecstasy. Officially the greatest pair of twins and the highest scoring Swedish duo in NHL history. The only thing that was missing for the Sedins was their names on the cup. DANIEL SEDIN! Because the Hart Trophy only has three spots available, competition is pretty fierce. As a result, only Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid and Sergei Bobrovsky got the nod this year. Across the league, there are plenty of names that could have been featured. Today we are looking at players from the Pacific division who deserve to be their team’s Hart Trophy nominee. Make sure to check out Mike Laybourne’s picks for Atlantic Hart Trophy Nominees as well. Anaheim Ducks: Ryan Getzlaf Embed from Getty Images Where would the Ducks be without their leader? Due to suffering their worst season in 18 years, the Vancouver Canucks have made a change. Today, Travis Green has become the new Head Coach. For the last four years, Green has been coach their AHL affiliate Utica Comets. During his time there he has accumulated a record of 55-110-29 record in 304 games. He also led the team to a Calder Cup final in 2015. Since the sacking of Willie Desjardins on April 10th, Vancouver has decided to look closer to the home. The 46-year-old BC native had an NHL career spanning 970 games from 1989 to 2007. During this time he played for New YorkRead More →

Times are tough for the Vancouver Canucks, the team are 23-26-6 and only the Arizona Coyotes sit lower in the Pacific division. The season started well and the team went undefeated in their first four games, but then lost nine in a row and have been struggling to find that original form again. The Canucks have 29 games left to salvage their season, but are currently seven points behind Calgary, who right now hold the second wildcard space in the Western conference. The Canucks have won just one of their last six games (they beat Colorado if you were wondering) and have been outscored 23Read More →

The Vancouver Canucks are being served chilled this year. With nine straight losses, their record now stands at an abysmal 4-8-1. The year started with a bang after four straight wins in October. Although fans were jubilant, they set an NHL record for never leading during regulation time. After losing 4-2 the New York Islanders last night, it appears change is drastically needed. So when precisely did the rot set in? Well, it could be said that it began during an unproductive offseason which saw Loui Eriksson handed a massive $36 million contract over six years and Jim Benning‘s reluctance to pursue the bigger names ofRead More →
