The 4th Line Gets Its Expansi-on

When it was announced that Las Vegas was getting a new franchise, the first thing many thought of was: Expansion Draft! And that time is finally here. On Wednesday, June 21st during the NHL Awards ceremony the Vegas Golden Knights will have their roster officially announced. The entire list of players available to Vegas can be found on the NHL website. The Knights have to pick at least 14 forwards, 9 defensemen and 3 goaltenders from the other 30 NHL teams.

Joe Martini, Kyle Willaert, Mike Laybourne, and special guest, Managing Editor of Wings Nation, Mr. Nick Seguin, are here to bring you who they think will be on the Vegas Golden Knights from all 30 NHL teams! Show us who you’d take on Twitter (you can use Capfriendly’s very nice tool. Send screenshots!) and stay tuned Wednesday night when the team is finally announced.

1 If I’m Vegas and have the two young goalies that they have already selected and could take from the remaining teams I wouldn’t help Pittsburgh out unless they sent a pick along with Marc-Andre Fleury.

2 If Pittsburgh is unwilling to give anything up this pick would change from the former first round pick in Connolly to Philipp Grubauer.

3 A quick note about Mike’s picks. Drafting an expansion team is mostly about throwing mud against the wall to see what sticks. That’s why I picked both Fleury and Mrazek. It’s unlikely that both will still be there at the end of next season but it does give depth at the back of the rink. Almost every expansion team has sucked in its first season so there’s no reason to get excited about this one. For that reason I almost picked Jaromir Jagr just to sell some Golden Knights Jerseys, but Marchessault is just too good a pick to turn down. It’s McPhee’s world now, we just live in it. The real excitement will come this time next year when we really see what the team is made of.
