Predators vs Blues
The wait is over, hockey is finally back. Tonight, we kick off the NHL’s second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs with a shockingly, but deserving game, between the Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues. Nashville stunned the hockey world with a sweep of the Chicago Blackhawks, who many thought would make a run for its 4th cup in seven years.
The Blues took care of business fairly easily with a 4-1 series victory over the Minnesota Wild, who stumbled at the worst time. Nashville has never advanced to the conference finals in franchise history, the Blues will look to be one step closer to erase history as the oldest team without a Stanley Cup.
Oilers vs Ducks
Anaheim Ducks and Edmonton Oilers will be a barn burner. Young superstar Connor McDavid will face off with a veteran led Ducks squad that has been on fire. Sweeping the Calgary Flames was something most could see coming. Anaheim is on a 8 game win streak with a 15-0-3 record dating back to March 12th. McDavid and the Oilers sent the defending Western Conference champs home with a 4-2 series win. No matter if the Oilers make it past the experienced Ducks or not, they have a lot to be proud of already.
If the second round is anything like the first its going to be edge of your seat hockey. There won’t be a need for 18 more overtime games but it sure does make for an exciting time. The Predators will advance to the Eastern Conference finals in 6 games vs the Blues. The sweep of the Blackhawks has them feeling good and they won’t be slowing down. Anaheim will be too much for Edmonton to handle and the Ducks will take the series in 5 games. The sea of orange will win the Oilers a game but it wont be enough. Experience is eventually going to send the Oilers packing. Anaheim has been here before and it will push them to the next round. Look for Edmonton to build on this season and become a very dangerous team for years to come.
